The producer

Named for herds of cattle.

Masha washing station in Kayanza takes cherry from more than 3,200 local farmers, each tending around 297 trees on about a tenth of a hectare. For these smallholders, coffee is a livelihood.

The station shares its name with the sub-hill it sits on. Masha comes from the Kirundi word amasho, meaning herds of cattle, which the hill is known for.
