The Pearl Model S is the Pearl with a larger capacity, a brighter dot-matrix display, a louder battery, and a built-in brewguide that walks you through recipes step by step. acaia designed it for professional settings, but the interactive guide and the customizable sound notifications make it one of the better teaching tools a serious home brewer can own.

Capacity goes up to 3000 g. The lithium-ion battery is 2200 mAh, roughly twice the runtime of the standard Pearl. The display is dot-matrix rather than segmented LED, so you can see words as well as numbers. When the scale guides you through a brew, it actually tells you what to do, not just how much things weigh.

The brewing modes expand too. Weighing only, dual display, pour-over auto-start timer, portafilter, espresso, flowrate, brewguide, and countdown. You pick the mode that matches what you're brewing. The scale reacts accordingly.

How it works

How the Pearl Model S teaches a brew.

Open the acaia Coffee app. Pick a recipe. The scale switches to brewguide mode and shows the first step on the display: weigh your coffee. The Model S waits for you to add the dose, then prompts the next step.

The brew runs on a timeline. Bloom pour, rest, main pour, drawdown. The scale tracks each stage and tells you when to move to the next one, with optional voice or tone cues. By the time you've brewed the same recipe five or six times, you know the rhythm. The brewguide stops being a crutch and starts being a check.
