The Orbit

A grinder built in partnership with Weber Workshops, tuned by acaia.

The Orbit is acaia's first grinder. Hand-built in partnership with Weber Workshops, it runs 64 mm flat steel burrs on a 200 W brushless DC motor with an RPM range of 600 to 1500. That range matters. You can slow the burrs down for cleaner espresso particle distribution, speed them up for faster pour-over throughput, and save the settings as presets in the app.

The workflow is single-dose with an automatic purge that minimizes retention between doses. A multi-purpose hopper handles either single doses or a small batch, and a Reverse-and-Adjust feature lets you transition between grind sizes without the usual recalibration dance.

When you pair the Orbit with an acaia Lunar scale, a new mode unlocks: grind-by-weight. The grinder reads weight from the scale over Bluetooth and stops when it hits the target dose. The first grinder on the market with this integration, and it's the reason most of our customers buying an Orbit buy a Lunar with it.

RPM control is what makes this grinder different.

acaia's RPM Stability Control Technology holds the burrs at a consistent speed even under load. Most grinders slow down when coffee hits the burrs. The Orbit holds steady. That consistency shows up in particle distribution, which shows up in the cup.

The Orbit ships with one of three burr options depending on your workflow: the Mazzer 33M, the SSP Multi-Purpose, or the SSP Lab Sweet V3. Each has its own character. Pick the one that matches how you brew.

Eight things to know

What's built into the Orbit.

01

64 mm flat steel burrs, three options

Mazzer 33M for a balanced profile, SSP Multi-Purpose for versatility across espresso and filter, SSP Lab Sweet V3 for high-clarity filter. Stepless adjustment across the full range.

02

RPM Stability Control

acaia's proprietary control technology holds the burrs at a consistent speed under load. Adjustable range of 600 to 1500 RPM, saved as profiles in the companion app.

03

Grind-by-weight (with Lunar)

Pair the Orbit with an acaia Lunar scale over Bluetooth and the grinder stops automatically when it hits the target dose. The first grinder with this integration built in.

04

Single-dose workflow with auto-purge

Single-dose loading with an automatic purge that minimizes retention between doses. Keep flavors clean when switching between coffees.

05

Reverse-and-Adjust

Transition between grind sizes without the usual recalibration. The feature reverses the burrs briefly before adjusting, which keeps the new setting closer to true.

06

200 W brushless DC motor

Brushless motor delivers consistent torque and lower noise than brushed alternatives. 60 second running time with 30 second rest, which is more than enough for typical single-dose workflows.

07

Companion app with presets

The acaia Coffee app stores grind-size profiles, RPM settings, and dose targets. Switch between presets for espresso, pour-over, and immersion without guessing.

08

Aluminum and stainless steel construction

Body is aluminum with stainless steel and polycarbonate detailing. The weight (6130 g) keeps the grinder planted on the counter during operation.

How it works

How the Orbit fits a dialed-in workflow.

Load a single dose into the hopper. Select your preset in the app, or set grind size, RPM, and dose target manually. Hit start. The Orbit grinds at the RPM you set, auto-purges when the dose is complete, and rests until you're ready for the next pull.

When the Lunar is paired, the workflow collapses further. Place the portafilter on the scale. Hit start. The grinder runs until the Lunar reads your target dose, then stops. You get grind-by-weight without doing the math, which is the kind of precision that used to only live on commercial gear.

Who it's for

Who the Orbit is for.

If you pull espresso at home and you're serious enough to care about RPM, retention, and burr geometry, the Orbit is a grinder you can grow into. The burr options let you tune it to your brewing style, and the Lunar integration is genuinely useful every morning.

If you run a bar, the Orbit is a single-dose workhorse with commercial-grade control. The RPM stability and brushless motor hold up under volume, and the app makes it easy to dial in multiple coffees across a shift.

Works with

Pairs with the Lunar.

The Orbit is built to work with acaia's ecosystem. Grind-by-weight unlocks when you pair a Lunar scale over Bluetooth. The acaia Coffee app stores presets and pushes firmware updates. The grinder ships with a 58 mm portafilter dosing cup, a magnetic pad, and an accessory tool kit so you can start grinding the day it arrives.
