The Ode Gen 2

Built for one thing. Brewed coffee, done well.

The Ode Gen 2 is a single-dose grinder designed around a specific idea: if you brew coffee with water passing through a bed of grounds, this is the grinder for that. Pour-over, drip, French press, AeroPress, cold brew. One purpose, executed carefully.

At the center is a pair of 64mm stainless steel flat burrs with a two-stage grinding geometry. Flat burrs tend to produce a more uniform particle distribution than conical burrs, which matters when you're brewing by immersion or percolation. More uniformity means more even extraction, which means the cup tastes more like the coffee and less like the grind.

Gen 2 carries over what worked on the original Ode and tightens what didn't. Single-dose loading keeps beans fresh. A magnetically-aligned catch cup holds the grinds in place during transfer. A built-in knocker helps release retention so more of the coffee you weighed actually lands in your brewer. The motor has been engineered for quiet operation, which is a small thing that matters every morning at 6am.

Uniformity in the grind is uniformity in the cup.

We stock the Ode Gen 2 because the brew methods we care about, the ones most of our subscribers use at home, live or die on grind quality. And because Fellow built a grinder for those methods specifically, without trying to stretch it into espresso territory. Restraint in design tends to show up as confidence in use.

Nine things to know

What Fellow built into Gen 2.

01

64mm flat burrs

Uncoated stainless steel burrs with a two-stage geometry. Designed to produce a tight particle distribution across the range of brew methods the Ode is built for.

02

11 grind settings, 31 micro-adjustments

Eleven main steps give you the range from fine drip to coarse French press. Between each step, micro-adjustments let you dial in without jumping too far at once.

03

Single-dose loading

Load only what you're brewing. No hopper of stale beans sitting in light. The 100g capacity is sized for a single brew, not a week of them.

04

Anti-static technology

Reduces the static charge that makes grounds cling to the catch cup and the chute. Less mess on the counter, more coffee in the brewer.

05

Magnetic catch cup

The cup aligns itself to the chute magnetically. Pull it out, pour it into your brewer, and you don't have to think about it.

06

Built-in knocker

A knocker on the body of the grinder helps dislodge retained grounds. Press it a few times after grinding and more of the dose makes it out.

07

Auto-stop

The grinder stops on its own when the grind completes. No second-guessing, no standing over it.

08

Engineered for quiet operation

Noise reduction was a specific design goal for Gen 2. It runs at a volume that doesn't wake the house.

09

Optional SSP MP Red Speed burrs

For subscribers who want extreme clarity and separation of flavor notes, Fellow offers SSP MP Red Speed burrs with a titanium aluminum carbon nitride coating. Up to 5x longer lifespan, and a markedly different cup profile. Same price point as the standard burrs.

How it works

How it fits into a morning routine.

You weigh out your dose, drop it into the top of the grinder, and press the grind button. The motor runs, the burrs do their work, and the auto-stop function cuts power when the grind is complete. You pull the magnetic catch cup out of the front, tap the built-in knocker a couple of times to release any retention, and pour the grounds into your brewer.

Adjusting the grind is done with a dial that moves through 11 settings with detents you can feel. The micro-adjustments sit between those steps, letting you move in smaller increments when you're dialing in a new coffee.

Who it's for

Who the Ode is for.

The Ode is for subscribers who brew pour-over, drip, French press, AeroPress, or cold brew at home and want a grinder that takes those methods seriously. It's not an espresso grinder and Fellow doesn't try to pretend it is. If you pull shots, you want something else. If you brew with water passing through grounds, the Ode is built for you.

In the Fellow ecosystem

Pairs naturally with Aiden and Stagg EKG.

The Ode Gen 2 shares a design language and a philosophy with Fellow's Aiden Precision Coffee Maker and the Stagg EKG Pro kettle. Grind in the Ode, pour with the Stagg, brew in the Aiden. Or grind in the Ode, weigh on a Tally Pro, pour through a V60. The pieces are built to work together without locking you into any one workflow.
