The Mara X

The heat exchanger, rethought.

The Mara X is Lelit's answer to a question home espresso has been asking for years: can a heat exchanger machine actually run cool enough to pull a good shot without a cooling flush? Lelit's take is a double-probe system with a thermosyphon circulation that keeps the group stable regardless of idle time.

A single 1.8L boiler produces steam and feeds the coffee circuit through a heat exchanger. Two probes monitor temperature: one at the boiler, one at the group. The electronic controller reads both and adjusts heating to keep the extraction temp in range. You pick your mode and walk away.

The L58E group means you get Lelit's commercial-style head with mechanical preinfusion. A gentle pressure ramp wets the puck before the pump hits 9 bar. Lock in a portafilter, press the brew lever up, and the shot pulls. No flushing. No waiting for the heat to settle.

Two probes, one boiler, no cooling flush.

The Mara X has two operating modes. Xmode Coffee prioritizes the group, which is ideal if you mostly pull espresso and steam occasionally. Xmode Steam prioritizes steam pressure, which helps if you are making back-to-back milk drinks. A three-position temperature switch lets you choose Warm, Hot, or Extra Hot depending on the roast profile you are brewing.

The pump is Lelit's engineered silent design. It runs quieter than a standard vibratory pump and gives a longer pressure ramp that acts like a soft preinfusion. You hear less, the machine stays calmer, and the shot has a smoother start.

Nine things to know

What you actually get.

01

Double probe HX system

Two temperature probes and a thermosyphon circulation keep the group stable without a cooling flush. Lelit's patent-pending approach to a classic heat exchanger problem.

02

L58E commercial group

Mechanical preinfusion built into the group. Compatible with any LELIT58 portafilter, filter basket, or accessory.

03

Three-position temperature switch

Pick Warm, Hot, or Extra Hot based on your roast. The controller holds brew temperature within 2 C of the target.

04

Xmode Coffee or Xmode Steam

Two operating priorities. Coffee mode favors group stability. Steam mode favors steam pressure for milk work. Switch with one button.

05

Silent pump with pressure ramp

Engineered for quieter operation and a longer pressure ramp that behaves like a soft preinfusion. Less noise, smoother shot start.

06

Double manometer

One gauge reads steam boiler pressure. The other reads water pressure during extraction. Both are backlit.

07

Cool-touch anti-burn wands

Multidirectional steam and hot water wands with ergonomic grips. Professional spring-closure taps.

08

Maple wood details

Knobs, lever, tamper, and portafilter handle are maple. The body is brushed stainless in the standard version, textured black or white in the finish variants.

09

LED indicator panel

Ready status, warming status, water tank level, and reserve mode all on a simple indicator panel. No menu diving.

How it works

Heat-up and first shot.

The Mara X reaches brewing temperature in about 24 minutes from cold start. During that time the double-probe system is letting the boiler and the group come up together instead of separately. When the ready light is on, the group is genuinely ready.

To pull a shot, lift the brew lever up. The silent pump starts and water moves through the group head. The mechanical preinfusion in the L58E group gives the puck a gentle wet-up before full pressure hits. Lower the lever when the shot looks right.

After 30 minutes of inactivity the machine enters standby automatically. Lift the brew lever up and back down to wake it. The boiler ramps back to temperature without a full heat cycle.

Who it's for

Who the Mara X is for.

The Mara X is the machine we recommend when someone wants heat exchanger performance without the heat exchanger learning curve. If you do not want to remember cooling flushes and idle times, this is built to handle those concerns for you.

It is also a good fit if you mostly pull one or two shots at a time and want a steam wand that holds up when you do make a cappuccino. The 1.8L boiler has the capacity to steam well without the footprint of a dual boiler.

The Lelit toolbox

LELIT58 compatible.

The Mara X uses Lelit's 58mm commercial group. The box includes a LELIT58 2-way portafilter with Coffee Slide spout, a full set of IMS filter baskets (9-11g, 14-18g, 18-21g, blind), a tamper, and a 35L water softener. Any LELIT58 accessory or aftermarket 58mm basket fits.
