The producer

Long Miles Coffee Project built Bukeye Station to connect growers directly to roasters.

Long Miles Coffee Project was established by Ben and Kristy Carlson in 2011 to connect coffee growers directly to roasters and help producers receive premiums that reflect the quality of what they grow. They built Bukeye Station to provide modern washing infrastructure, now serving over 6,000 producers, processing staff, and educators across Burundi.

This lot is grown between 1,700 and 2,100 MASL. Cherries are hand-picked at peak ripeness, floated, hand-sorted, and depulped on harvest day. Parchment goes through a 12-hour dry fermentation, rinsing, density grading, then a 4 to 6 hour submersion. It is pre-dried on covered tables for up to 48 hours with additional hand-sorting, then dried on raised beds for 16 to 20 days to 10.5% moisture.

Bukeye Station now serves over 6,000 producers, processing staff, and educators.
