The Sette 270

Macro and micro, built on the same zero-retention bones.

The Sette 270 takes the vertical, straight-through architecture of the Sette 30 and adds what serious espresso users actually need: a stepless micro-adjustment ring. Thirty macro steps handle the coarse range. Nine marked micro positions, stepless between them, handle the fine-tune work inside each macro step.

The name comes from the math. 30 macro positions times 9 micro indicators gives roughly 270 combinations. In practice, the stepless micro ring means you can land anywhere between those indicators. The tolerance is as tight as the espresso application demands.

The burrs are the same 40mm conical steel set as the Sette 30, manufactured in Liechtenstein by Etzinger. The motor and gearbox are the same high-torque DC unit with the 19:1 planetary reduction. Retention stays sub-gram because the architecture has not changed.

Thirty macro steps. Nine micro indicators. Stepless in between.

Three programmable time-based presets live on the front panel. Label them for single, double, and decaf. Or for three different coffees. The timer resolves to 1/10th of a second, which is enough precision for repeatable daily dosing without a scale.

The convertible device holder is the same Sette-family arm that accepts portafilters, pour-over drippers, AeroPress, and the included grounds container. Nothing extra to buy to cover your brew methods.

Eight things to know

What the 270 adds to the Sette 30.

01

Stepless micro-adjustment ring

Nine marked indicators with stepless motion between them. Dial espresso to the exact point the beans demand, then lock in by reference mark. The macro ring still handles the coarse moves.

02

40mm conical steel burrs

Manufactured in Liechtenstein by Etzinger. Same burr set as the Sette 30 and 270Wi. Swappable with BG burrs for coarser brewing methods.

03

Straight-through vertical architecture

The top burr rotates, the bottom is fixed, and grounds fall straight down into the portafilter. Retention stays around half a gram, which is near-zero for this category.

04

Three programmable presets

Store three time-based doses on the front panel. Press a single button to recall each. Timer resolution is 1/10th of a second.

05

High-torque DC motor with 19:1 planetary gearbox

Patented crown gear drive. Grinds at 3.5 to 5.5 grams per second, which is faster than most grinders at any price.

06

Convertible device holder

Portafilters, pour-over cones, AeroPress, and the included grounds container all clip into the adjustable arm. Grind directly into your brewer.

07

Thermal cutoff

Auto-resetting high-limit switch protects the motor on extended use. You can dose rapidly for a morning without frying the motor.

08

LED display

Clean readout for timer and preset status. Simple, readable, not overbuilt.

How it works

How the 270 handles a dialed shot.

Choose a macro step on the outer ring, 1 through 30, to land in your grind region. Then turn the micro ring inside it, which moves steplessly between 9 marked positions, to fine-tune the fineness.

Save your time-based dose to one of three preset buttons. For single espresso, double, and something else. Each stores to the tenth of a second.

Swing the device holder under the spout, drop in your portafilter, press a preset. The motor grinds at 3.5 to 5.5 grams per second directly into the basket. Near-zero retention means the next dose is not diluted by yesterday's coffee.

Who it's for

Who the Sette 270 is for.

The home espresso user who wants real micro-adjustment without a built-in scale. The subscriber who switches between two or three coffees and wants presets that match. The enthusiast who values the Sette architecture and wants the full control interface.

If weight-based dosing with an integrated Acaia scale matters, step up to the 270Wi. If you only need one preset and macro-only adjustment, the Sette 30 is the answer.

Middle of the Sette line.

The same platform, with the interface espresso rewards.

The 270 sits between the Sette 30 and the 270Wi. Burrs, motor, gearbox, and device holder are shared across all three. Upgrading means adding features: the 270 adds micro-adjustment and presets, the 270Wi adds the Acaia scale and BrewBar app. Parts and support carry across the whole line.
