The Encore ESP Pro

Stepless adjustment, single-dose mode, and the Encore's bones.

The ESP Pro is what happens when Baratza takes the Encore architecture and pushes it into territory usually reserved for grinders twice the price. Stepless grind adjustment, a flow-control disk, an anti-static ionizer, and a 0.1-second timer all live in the same compact chassis.

The burrs are 40mm conical M2, manufactured in Europe, with a quick-release design so you can pull them for cleaning without tools. The motor spins at 550 RPM with gear reduction. Same quiet, cool, slow burr philosophy that made the Encore work.

What changes is the control. The stepless ring gives 2.2-micron adjustments per degree of rotation in the espresso range. That is the kind of resolution single-dose espresso actually needs.

2.2 microns per degree. The resolution espresso actually needs.

Two grinding modes ship on the machine. Single-dose auto-stop detects when you have fed through your beans and stops the motor. Timer mode runs for your programmed duration, repeatable to a tenth of a second. A single-dose hopper cap is in the box alongside a full 300g hopper.

The anti-static ionizer is not a gimmick. It knocks down the static charge that causes grounds to stick inside the chute, cutting mess and retention. Paired with the flow-control disk, grounds fall cleanly into the dosing cup with minimal chaff migration.

This is the Encore body doing everything it can. If that chassis works for your counter, this is the upper limit of what it can do.

Ten things to know

What the ESP Pro adds to the Encore line.

01

Stepless grind adjustment

No clicks, no numbered stops. The adjustment ring moves continuously, with 2.2-micron resolution per degree of rotation in the espresso range. Dial in by feel, lock in by reference mark.

02

40mm M2 conical burrs

Manufactured in Europe. Quick-release design lets you pull the burr set for cleaning without a tool. Same geometry family as the Virtuoso+ and the Encore ESP.

03

Anti-static ionizer

A built-in ionizer neutralizes the static charge on the grounds as they exit the burrs. Less sticking in the chute, less retention, less counter mess. Especially noticeable with light roasts.

04

Flow control disk

A removable disk inside the grounds chute regulates how grounds fall into the dosing cup. Keeps the dose tidy and reduces clumping. Pops out for cleaning.

05

Single-dose mode with auto-stop

Load your beans, let the grinder empty itself, and the motor stops automatically when the burrs clear. Pair with the included single-dose hopper cap for clean workflow.

06

0.1-second timer mode

Programmable timer with tenth-of-a-second precision. For consistent morning espresso, set your time and hit the button. Digital display shows your setting.

07

Barista LED lighting

Integrated LED inside the dosing area. Small detail, big quality-of-life improvement on a dim morning counter.

08

Dual hopper options

Ships with a 300g bean hopper for filter duty and a 45g single-dose cap for morning espresso. Both seat onto the same collar.

09

Anodized cast zinc and ABS construction

More weight and rigidity than the plastic-heavy Encore classic. Feels planted on the counter, dampens vibration, holds burr alignment.

10

Digital display

Shows grind setting to the nearest half-step and timer duration. Clear readout, simple menu. Nothing you do not need.

How it works

How the ESP Pro works in practice.

You choose a mode. Single-dose if you are measuring beans by weight into the hopper. Timer if you have a repeatable morning shot dialed.

Set your grind on the stepless ring. The espresso range runs from settings 1 to 40 with 2.2-micron resolution. The brew range extends from 40.5 to 60, with larger jumps tuned for filter methods.

Drop your portafilter or dosing cup under the spout. Press start. The anti-static ionizer fires as grounds exit the burrs, and the flow-control disk keeps the dose tidy in the cup. Grinds between 1.3 and 2.2 grams per second depending on setting and bean.

Who it's for

Who the ESP Pro is for.

The home barista who has outgrown a basic espresso grinder but is not ready to spend on a commercial-class machine. The single-dose obsessive who wants proper auto-stop behavior without moving up to a Niche or Mignon. The subscriber who wants the Encore ethos, extended into espresso with real control.

If you only brew filter, the classic Encore or Virtuoso+ is a better spend. The ESP Pro's value lives in the espresso range, the stepless ring, and the single-dose workflow.

Top of the Encore line.

The Encore chassis, at its highest resolution.

The ESP Pro shares a footprint and maintenance language with the rest of the Encore family. Parts, repair philosophy, and Baratza's support line carry across. If you own an Encore already, the Pro feels familiar in the hand with a sharper brain behind the burrs.
